The Sabbath

Today is the Sabbath

a holy day.

A day made sacred

not by the church

but by its very existence.

A time of rest

as compelling as the sleeping child

blissful in her mother’s arms

as natural as the barren tree

preparing for spring.

To do nothing

that is our calling

our path to the divine.
